These 800 x 480 pixel displays are available in two sizes 7" and 10.2" and offer excellent brightness, 400 cd/m2 and 450cd/m2 respectively. Both have a contrast ratio of 300:1.
Another feature is there extended temperature range for storage and operation with them being capable of working from -30 degrees to +85 degrees C as they have been developed for the demanding in-car and portable DVD application area. Would you want to be watching the screen in those temperatures?
A panel depth of 6mm enables extremely compact housings to be designed around these LCD's.
To drive these LCD's one can choose either a complete driver card solution available off the shelf or where OEM/ODM applications exist driver ICs are also available to mop up the complex signals required by the raw panels.
Should user interaction be a requirement several touch screen manufacturers also provide resistive touch sensors to match the dimensions of the LCD's.
