With all the benefits of projected capacitive technology, you may be curious how it works. Briefly, the system may be divided into two parts, touch panel and controller IC. The physical characteristic of the touch panel should be matched to the controller IC namely, resistance, capacitance and have sufficient sensitivity to ensure correct identification of touch events. However, best performance relies on fine-tuning between touch panel and firmware programming. The performance of the touch panel and IC, may be totally different depending upon the firmware with the detection algorithm being key to producing that "killer" application or product.
